Is Jesus your Lord?
Romans 10:8–9 (NKJV) says:
“The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” (that is, the word of faith which we preach): that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.”
🔹 What does it mean to believe “in your heart”?
It means fully trusting in the risen Christ - not just with your mind, but with your whole life.
You’re convinced in your innermost being that Jesus is who He said He is - the Son of God who died and rose again.
It’s:
- A personal conviction
- A spiritual surrender
- A belief that changes your direction
You're not just acknowledging facts - you’re entrusting your life to Jesus.
🔹 And what does it mean to confess Him as Lord?
It means Jesus isn't just your Saviour - He is your Master.
To call Him “Lord” means to submit to His rule, walk in His ways, and yield to His Spirit.
Confession without surrender is empty.
Faith without fruit is dead. (James 2:17)
🔹 Salvation is both positional and relational.
- Positional Salvation (Status before God):
This is what God declares about you when you are born again:
- Justified - Romans 5:1
- Forgiven - Colossians 2:13
- Seated with Christ - Ephesians 2:6
- Adopted as His child - Galatians 4:5
✅ This is a once-for-all act based on what Jesus did - not your works.
- Relational Salvation (Ongoing walk with God):
This is your daily walk - your intimacy, obedience, and sanctification:
- Called to abide - John 15:4
- Walk in the Spirit - Galatians 5:16
- Growing in holiness - 1 Thessalonians 4:3
- Warned not to grieve the Spirit - Ephesians 4:30
⚠️ This relationship can grow or drift - and Scripture calls us to remain in the faith, to endure, and to follow Him closely.
A true believer has both:
✔️ A right position (saved by grace through faith)
✔️ A living relationship (walking in surrender and holiness)
If there’s no yielding, no growth, and no transformation - then Jesus is not truly Lord in your life.
We are called to be holy as He is holy, and to walk as He walked. (1 Peter 1:16, 1 John 2:6)
